Leak from breather

hi,
I have just finished fitting a 300TDI engine with a new (to me) gearbox and a new (to me) transfer box. after using it on a run of about 20 miles I find ATF fluid blowing from the breather and running down the bulkhead.
I have also a leak between the gearbox and transfer box which I have seals on order from ashcroft to cure this.
any idea's on the ATF leak ?

Double check the gearbox is not overfilled ...................

hi,
I checked the level and it was down a bit, it did'nt take much to bring it back up to level. I reckon the drop was what blew out the breather. I have used the correct ATF fluid and wonder if the working level should be down a bit.I have'nt ran it since to check.
should there be anything else I should look at?
