SIII SWB (1972)- Wheel cylinders
« on: September 19, 2011, 01:13:15 PM »
When I bought my SIII it came with a load of new spares, including some wheel cylinders

I have a Lucas cylinder for the front RHS (part no: 243296G) which appears to have an internal spring for the leading brake shoe piston and nothing for the trailing, which make sense to me.
I also have 2 Britpart cylinders for the rear (part nos: 243302 & 243303).  But these have equal strength internal springs on both pistons, which are not actually that strong.

Does that matter, and can I fit the Britpart to the rear if I need to, or is the difference more to do with the fact that they are for front and rear?

Cheers
Clive

Clive,

The only difference I believe between the front and rear cylinders is that the rears have a 1" bore whilst the fronts have 1 1/2".

Cheers
