Sorry I never got to try my radio out on Sunday, but when I heard you were having a wee handbrake problem, I thought you may be a bit busy. Glad you got it sorted.

Land Rover obviously dont trust the electric handbrake as they provide a manual release under a postage stamp sized flap. Problem was when I opened the flap there was no wire there to pull!  Had to dismantle all the plastic tat over the gear box to find the end of the wire - no way was it long enough even when pulled out to reach the flap. Bet they are all like that and on-one ever looks at it until it is needed.

Matching antenna to transmitter should be in the course, so you might be able to get the instructor to do a practical demonstration.

Jon, The course was with Ken Horne from the Glenrothes and District ARC. The actual course was held at the ATC hut in Kirkcaldy. I asked Ken about it months ago then a couple of weeks ago he phoned and told me to get up to Kirkcaldy and register. You have a course soon with Stuart havn't you? The hardest bit is having a couple of dots left over at the end of your morse message  :'(

"On-line = 2 days" was the claim on their website.

Perhaps I should have used "BFG" then, Stuart :)

Jon,
I think I live in a VHF/UHF blackhole. If I drive away from here, I can listen to people chatting, but not much here. Hope there's someone with vhf on board at the GRR at Sloy on Sunday. Nice and high up, over 300m above sea level.
I have got the SWR down on my CB now. It was about 5 and I've got it down to about 1.5 to 2.5, so I can at least use that now.
Hope you get your course soon, mate.
Geoff :)
