That's quite true. I once picked up a hitch-hiker. A very shy lad, completely lacking in confidence. He didn't even think that he deserved to travel inside the car and so we agreed that he could sit up on the roof.
As you can guess, a police patrol car stopped me very soon after he was up there and wrote me a ticket as he was clearly an insecure load!
