Disco td5 temp gauge faulty
« on: August 22, 2015, 11:38:57 AM »
My niece's Disco td5's temp gauge has stopped working.
It doesn't  even move when the ignition is switched on.
Everything else works OK. Is there a way to test the sender / wiring to determine the problem?
The 'old' way was to take  the wire off the sender and earrth it to the engine and if it registered 'hot' on the gauge, the sender was knacked.
Can she short out the pins on the plug  with similar results?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Just replace the sender unit, that`s what I would do.

I was going to tell her just to do that but just wondered if there was a quick test to confirm it was knacked.
Cheers for that.
