No brake lights

No brake lights

Hi guys,

Brake lights on my 1989 landrover 90 have stopped working, bulbs okay and I have wiggled the wiring, I know there will be a switch somewhere but can't see it in footwell at pedal , guidance and how to chek please .

Under the bonnet, at the back of the pedal box, the switch has 2 wires linked into the wiring loom,try joining the 2 wires of the loom together,the brake lights should come on, have had the same problem recently in a friends 90, had to replace the switch.

I done that with the wires and lights came on , so it's a new switch,

bought a new switch off ebay but it wont fit as the threaded part is a fraction smaller than original so it will not screw into place, i cleaned up and oiled the old switch and its working, for now

New switch I fitted (Lucas ) 3 weeks ago has stopped working, have found that the button does not spring out enough to make the connection,am now having to get yet another replacement!

Took out switch and went to dismantle it to find out what was actually wrong,as soon as the heatshrink boot was removed it worked perfectly, so it is back in place!
