It's been postponed mate due to lack of land access!

Well, I suppose it is better finding that out on Friday than on Sunday, but what would it have taken for someone to have told us earlier?  It is after all a holiday weekend and requests to join other things have been refused on the strength of this run being in the calendar.

Alan posted this in the members section on the 24 Sept. Not hard to find!

Unfortunately we haven't been able to get round enough of the landowners in the Hawick area yet to get enough off-road miles to make the trek down worthwhile. There's some lined up, and some more to be confirmed with over next couple of weeks hopefully, so this one's having to be postponed - will post details of revised date as soon as possible.

We would really appreciate some more support from members to help fill the calendar of Green Road Runs- identifying possible routes, finding out who owns the land, or who the farmer is, making an initial approach, putting us in touch with landowners that have suitable ground and would be amenable to land rovers driving over it, etc. it does take a lot of time investigating areas, knocking on doors etc but often comes to a dead end so any positive leads, or even better, confirmed access, would be really welcomed.
Thanks , alan

All members should be able to see it, and you need to be a member to go!

Echoing Alan's point tho - The thing we really need is for more members to do a bit of active scouting about for routes and on-side landowners. We've made good progress with the Forestry Commission, MOD and a couple of Estates but unless we want to go back to the same places time and time again we need new contacts. Ideally we need a portfolio of at least 20 possible routes so we can ring the changes.

I relation to this Sunday, I've got a couple of potential new routes on FC sites - but they need 6 weeks notice as a minimum, so they are no good for last minute changes. They've also put the price up this year :-(

Can I interest anyone in a late entry to the GRR Class of Mudmaster next weekend: 4 Forestry areas and half a dozen off road orienteering areas over a day and a half, all for £30 (plus road insurance if req).

Thoughts?

Regards
Donald

if enough interest and 'arsdness' i would quite happily invite members down to to the lanes around cumbria/lake district  8)
would involve a bit of a ride out - so would also involve camping overnight - but could organize that also  :D
its up to you  ;)

it is nice round this bit and a change of scenery ........................

I'd be up for that Prof. Had a great time last holiday in the Lakes, even if it did pee it down for a fortnight. Felt just like home !

Still keeping that Pencil Museum in the "Wait till its a REALLY wet day" category tho...

This was one we found using that Council website.
