Got about 6 grand to replace my Discovery, but what would you guys buy? Don't use it for every day driving. Used to tow twin axle caravan down south a few times every year.

You will get a really nice Landcruiser for that money, will pull the caravan all day long with ease.

I'll second that, that's what I've just spent my money on. Just bought a tidy D4D Colorado and still had a nice wad of change from £6000. Kept a few Land Rovers to keep my hand in when it comes to welding ;)

I have  Land Rovers and probably always will,,but when it comes to towing reliability, comfort,no oil or water leaking it got to be the Landcruiser.

£7500 is about the going rate for an early D3, don't think you'll get one much cheaper. If you find one with part LR service history/good indie then all the big jobs will have been done to a good standard.

Loads of info on Disco3.co.uk on them but one at that age will probably have up to 150k miles on it but its been proven that if looked after it'll see you through to 500k miles.

You might even find a deal on one on that website as well, at least you'll know its been looked after by an enthusiast.

I only got that for mine last year so they should be under 7K by now if you get in before the snow. I had an 05 S which had plenty of kit FSH and 105K miles, keep an eye on Disco3.co.uk, and barter, some people are still asking way too much.

£6k will buy you a high mile, low spec D3.

Was offered 2 last week. An 06/56 plate "S" with 85k miles, but used off road, as a farm hack for 2 years. No MOT, and various warnings on the dash - £5500
And an 06/06 "S" with 207k miles, needing an EPB module for £4k.

Need to have deep pockets, or be handy with the tools to keep a D3 going cheaply though

What about a Kia Sorrento ,we had an auto version it pulled like a train, had every option available the fuel economy was mid 20s, for me an auto Freelander 2 but its probably out your price range.
