Wanting to fit a cb radio to know whats going on at driving days, drumclog etc. Will I be fine for range with a 3 foot aerial or do I need a big whippy 5 footer?

What you find is that the 3 ft and the 5 ft are actually the same electrical length, they take the coils and increase the number or change the diameter to get the same length. I have a 5ft and a 3 ft and depending on the terrain I swap them. The 3ft is better if you are doing forrest tracks as it does not foul trees.
