Morning, I hope someone can help me out with this issue im having with my 1997 Discovery 300TDi Auto (Jap Import) as im close to ripping out what little hair I have left!

On the initial start up of the day I get a small amount of smoke and I take this to be normal, but when the vehicle is turned off and started again after its warm or been used for 15 minutes or so I get a load of blue/white smoke when I start it back up again to the extent that I cant see behind the vehicle and it lasts for about 300 yards then it clears and I dont see anymore even under hard accelaration.

Is there anything I should checking or looking for??

Any help will be greatly recieved.

Hi,

Could be injectors leaking, once had this problem on an Iveco, smoke on start up and at idle, but ok once underway.

Hi, have done the head gasket, taken off the egr, cleaned the intercooler and inlet manifold, oil change, new valve stem seals and now getting a white smoke on start up when it's warm and although it clears I'm still confused to what's causing it!

Do I need to get the injectors done?

It's an edc engine as its a import.

Hi had simillar with a 19j engine out an early defender found fault to be worn pulley on crank causing the timming to vairy ever so slightly but anough to cause white smoke on start up and if off road would sometimes be black/blue for short periods under load, remady was new pulley and timming belt at same time luckily crank was ok. might help {or confuse matters}

Thanks for all the replies but I reckon I found the issue! The cylinder head is cracked!

Will a cylinder head from a standard 300 tdi be the same as an import with edc pump?

Need to go looking for one too!!!
