Next time you think " Better put the gas burner back in the rover" remember it may only be a day or so till you spend 3 hours hungry and freezing your bits off and waiting for recovery by the side of the M9....while looking at the two tins of soup in the cubby box.  :-(

Leyshaft bearing is the initial diagnosis, recon box the proposed treatment :-(

gene who are you intending to take your box too, as i'll be doing the same shortly i recon, i purchased a gear and transfer box a couple of years ago from ashcroft but got a box of spanners instead so i would prefer to deal with someone local this time any recomendations?????

Bought an auto box for my first Disco from Ashcroft and never had any bother with it.  They were very explicit about flushing out the oil cooler etc though.  Maybe I was lucky as I managed to speak to Dave Ashcroft himself who talked me through a load of stuff to try before condemning the box

Whatever you do, avoid Beaumont 4x4. It took three boxes for them to deliver one that didn't have issues.

ask transmissions in falkirk are really good had them do a lot of various boxes always perfect
