I've used Henderson Metal Cleaning in Piershill for refurbishing alloy motorbike wheels before - good job and reasonably priced. Not sure about the minor repair though...

Depends on the rim, they dip them overnight and then shot blast direct from tank.

Quoted around £20 per rim.

I guess if there were lots to do they might be cheaper, since dropping them off someone else has recommended somewhere near IKEA on the Edinburgh bypass as cheaper, I can try and fins thier number if required?

Hendersons very near my house so very convenient.

Pentlands are cheap and do do a decent job. My mate had a load of powder coating done on suspension parts which were ok, not perfect but for the money it was a good service.

Hendersons did exactly what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, for what they said it would cost, (and very good job it was too).

That was 16" wheels blasted and coated for £20 each?

I've got some series 3 steelies I need done and that sounds a great price!

Not coated, dipped and then media blasted. I am coating myself using the patience and rattle can method.

I think alloys are more expensive than steel, no need to dip I was informed.

I had some steel ones off my horsebox done for a tenner each and then painted myself, this was by a different company down south.

Blasting very much worth the cash, not sure about powder coating, anyone got an opinion on that?

Has anyone got a "similarly approved" supplier for the other side of the country i.e Glasgow area. I have two sets of steel modulars I need to refurbish.

Thanks,

Tommy

IME of getting steel and alloys done, the powder coating sticks better to the alloy than the steel. I think the blasting and then 2 pack or one pack is better for steel wheels and other steel items too.

I would like to hear of anywhere around Glasgow too.  My source is gone now.

Hi,

I've used http://www.chameleonmetalcoatings.co.uk/about-chameleon for landcruiser alloys before, even fitted new tyres on for me at no extra cost, took about 2 days and job was spot on.

Cheers,
Iain
