I'm almost at a loss for words over this nonsense.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-20666459

Firstly the road would not be icy if the Council did their job and gritted the damn thing, secondly the Police called out the Helicopter to fetch these two clowns - slipping on icy tarmac. We never had more than two inches of snow, there is sod-all left. Could not they have slid on their backsides to the verge and damn well walked in the grass alongside the road ? This is less than a mile from my house.  Utterly, Utterly pathetic and a waste of Taxpayers money.

Got to agree with you. Think people have forgotten how to drive on ice and snow.

One of the bug-bears is that they shut the road then leave it shut long after any problem is gone, so people get used to ignoring the signs.

Perhaps investing in repairs to the drainage so that water does not run over the surface of the road is the first step.

The story is that it dates back to "Central Region" days. A gritter slid off the road and they've not gritted it since - but there is a helluva lot more tourism up here since then - Sir Walter Scott running a lot more, a big Time-Share complex, several resturants, Lochs & Glens Hotel with their coach tours....

Both post ^^^^^ are right - they need to sort out the burst drains to stop water flowing across it and grit it BEFORE it freezes. Todays story is that they sent some specialist "ice buster" machine up there and it also failed....

I suggest their counterparts in Highland and Grampian would be laughing....
