The Scottish Hill Rally Club are running a Two day comp safari in place of the cancelled Scottish Borders Hill Rally on 10/11th November.
Saturday will see competitors complete 5 laps of a 12 mile stage and on Sunday 7 laps of a 7mile stage, so plenty action to see.
At the moment entries received indicate that this is going to be a well supported event (in the twenties already) with competitors from various championships (too many to mention, but with people travelling from all corners of UK and Ireland.
With the length of the stages we are keen to recruit as much help as possible to marshal the event. Whether you are experienced or not we would welcome your assistance. Unsure about helping because you have not done it before, no problem we will pair you up with an experienced marshal. We have a number of jobs to fill, radio marshals, marshals, timing and service marshals etc

You don’t need a 4x4 to access many of the posts as a lot of the track is cat 1 forestry road and accessible by 2wd road cars. Hi vis clothing is a must along with warm clothes as its November and if we believe the weather forecasters the snow is not far away. Food and beverages to keep you going out on the stages. A yellow and red flag if you have one, along with pen/paper and a torch. If you have a MSA radio let us know your call sign so you can be added to the radio plan, Diana Baines and Colin Auld are controlling the event.
Timing:
First car away is 11am on the Saturday with a Marshals briefing at 10am in the service area. Sunday first car away is at 9am with a marshals briefing at 9:15 for those marshals who were not able to make the Saturday.
Accommodation:
We have a number of beds available at Galloway Activity Centre on the Friday and Saturday evenings, cost is £16.50 per head. Booking is through the Scottish Hill Rally Club as we have booked the whole centre, if you want a bed then please get in touch details below.
Camping and caravanning space is also available on site (please bring all your own drinking water), details on request.
Catering:
The popular Snack van that has been keeping all the Scottish Cross Country Championship participants fed and watered will be in attendance.
If you can help marshal the event then please get in touch colin.rodger@virgin.net or mobile 07767726075. Please don’t assume I know your coming because you always do, let me know so that I can include you in the event planning.
The Club haven’t forgotten about Hill Rallies and by committing to run this comp safari we are working to preserve the venue and support for future Hill Rallies at Forrest Lodge. We appreciate your help and look forward to seeing you there.
Thanks in advance. Please pass this message on to anyone you think may be interested in helping with the event.
Colin.
