Defender wheels on a series IIA

Hi all,
         question as per the title. I had a search but could not find what i was looking for. Needing new tyres for my 88 pick up and i can get some 235/85r16 on defender rims so just wondering if they will fit?

depends on the size of wheel studs you have , the earlier ones are smaller diameter than series 3/defender, they will fit but you run the risk of the nuts pulling thru

 I have the def rims on a series 2.  They aint pulled through yet but it aint used for pay and play etc.
