Can anyone tell me what I'm looking at?
« on: August 30, 2012, 08:34:12 AM »
I've recently bought a clutch kit, but it came with a few bits that I don't know what to do with.  See the attached image:

1 - release bearing
2 - push rod clip
3 - Small plastic piece, is this just junk or does it serve some purpose?
4 - Copper(?) tube, no idea what this is for
5 - sachet of fluid, presumably some sort of grease.  What is it for?
6 - Clutch plate & housing, I know where this goes!

Any help identifying parts 3,4 & 5 would be much appreciated.

Cheers,
Robbie

this goes in the clutch fork and keeps the release bearing atatched copper tube goes in flywheel if needed and the grease is for shaft that the thrust bearing slides on.

as far as i know.

hope this helps

Wow - where did you get this kit from..... it's brilliant!

Quote
1 - release bearing
This is obvious - sits over the input shaft, and between the arms of the Clutch Fork

Quote
2 - push rod clip
This is the platic clip that always breaks.... and holds the rod (that goes into the slave cylinder) into the Clutch Fork

Quote
3 - Small plastic piece, is this just junk or does it serve some purpose?
Another really useful piece: it's the clip that holds the thrust release bearing (1) onto the Clutch Fork: it sits in a hole just below one of the oval bearing-pieces on the clutch fork, and into the middle slot on one of the webbing pieces on the release bearing. The parts manual shows how it fits :)

4 - Copper(?) tube, no idea what this is for
Goes into the end of the crankshaft, and stops the nose of the gearbox input shaft from rattling around (damaging clutches, oil-seals, bearings, etc)

Quote
5 - sachet of fluid, presumably some sort of grease.  What is it for?
On the splines of the clutch-plate (or the input shaft) - [a] helps it all slide home, and helps it slide on the shaft when being used

6 - Clutch plate & housing, I know where this goes!
I hope so... they're the REALLY OBVIOUS bits you've just taken off :D

Thanks for the responses guys - has saved me from throwing away the little plastic clip!

I can't remember off the top of my head where I got the kit from, will dig out the receipt when I get home.

On the splines of the clutch-plate (or the input shaft) - (a) helps it all slide home, and (b) helps it slide on the shaft when being used
