Spring Compressors
« on: July 01, 2012, 09:58:40 AM »
I'm just about to replace my front springs on my Discovery 2 & my question is, will I need a spring compressor or will I be able to remove/replace through jacking the chassis & letting the axle drop?  (Please note I'm replacing with +2" springs.)  Thanks, Alan.

Personally I would get some compressors, they might go in OK if you can force the axle down enough but even the standard springs sometimes need a little help. It makes it safer too.

You do not need spring compressors, just put stands under the chassis jack under axle, undue the spring turret remove the 2 shocker bolts on the axle the shocker and turret clear,  then lower everything down gently to remove spring. You may have to remove the anti roll bar link.

for normal springs you dont need to compress them but for 2" lift you will need to compress them a bit.
i put new springs in mine last week , trouble was afterwards the back looked poor and i had to change them too, and i found a bush away in the watts link another £100 gone
