what do you mean by control box?  the winch should have a solenoid setup , it should have a box with four solenoids inside with a plug coming out to a wanderlead with a toggle switch for in/out
your easiest option is to go a an albright solenoid or equivalent something like this (presuming you only have a motor)  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-HD-Contactor-solenoid-Wireless-Remote-for-winch-recovery-winch-4x4-/251074642306?pt=UK_Recovery_Tools&hash=item3a75370182
you would then need to make up your 2 battery leads to the solenoid and 3 leads from the solenoid to the motor, all with heavy welding cable

Thanks for the reply.. Yes it's just the winch as such I have.. I can short the terminals out and the winch works perfect.. So if I purchase that eBay item I will be able to make that work.. When u say 4 solenoids do I need to buy 4 ??..

Help is appreciated not my strongest point.

no you only need that one solenoid, the albright style has the in and out all built in , the link i gave earlier includes a cheap remote control, you could also wire it to a rocker switch instead or as well as , depending on your needs. personally i have a wander lead and remote on each winch
