Can anyone tell me if the steering pump from a 300 tdi disco will fit a 89 defender, both a the four bolt type, just check before I jump in and buy it, then it will not fit !!

what engine is in the defender? unless it has a 300tdi retrofitted to it id say its gonna be a no

Are you meaning steering box when you are talking about both being 4 bolt?

Yeah sorry being a cabbage, it's the steering box and it's the 2.5 turbo, think its the 19j ?

Yes it should fit, might need to swap to your old drop arm depending on the ball joint arrangement. The pipes should be metric so no problem there
