strange noise from transmission

Ok on way home from stirling with a trailor on back a kind of pop/thud and now makes a whining noise in all gears, went under and tranfer box was hot, so was the gearbox but i think it was just tranfer from transfer box, does this mean a bearing has failed in the box????

Just when i thought my luck was changing!!!!

Any advice or thing to check.

Is the whining in all gears or just one. you may have chipped a gear.

hi,  does it sound like front or rear? anyway do a simple check by drooping both diff oils into clean tray and check for bits o metal, i have had a very similar fault witch turned out to be input shaft bearing on rear diff,easy to fix if this is fault.
