Self levelling is done by what looks like a 4" diameter shock absorber between the A frame balljoint  bracket and the chassis,it pumps itself up when moving to bring the ride height up when the back of the motor is loaded.Mostly fitted to CSW.

I had a self leveller on my 1983 110 .......... the springs had been changed to non self levelling so if I drove over a coin I could tell if it was heads or tails ..............
I took the self leveller off and what a difference, I had a 1982 SD1 with self levellers on it, I binned them and fitted new shocks and springs. BL self levelling stuff from that era worked well when new, but almost always failed after a few years........... or less.
To remove the self leveller from my 110 the key tool I needed was a thin 17mm spanner as used to change an angle grinder disc. The alternative was to take it somewhere and get the use of the proverbial blue spanner :)

If you have a self leveller ............. and are buying springs anyway ................ then imho ditch the leveller and buy springs accordingly.

Good luck!
