ABS/TC Unit on my57 Defenders and possibly other models

It seems that the ABS module mounted at the bulkhead on the drivers side is likely to get water coming from the windscreen, if the gutter overflows, inside the unit. This can cause anything from a sticky valve to the total failure of the unit. I was told that one specialist company gets about one ABS unit a week with problems due to water getting inside the unit, not just landrovers. If they replace your pump in a Defender they put a cover cut from an old plastic container over the unit. I took this a bit further and used silicon seal to attach the cover to the bulkhead to make sure that no water could get under the plastic cover.

I suggest all owners with this type of unit do this! It could save you several hundred pounds. An old 4 Litre milk container looks about the right size.
