I use a CO2 fire extinguisher which has gone out of date,a regulator for a pub CO2 cylinder fits in place of the horn,a tyrap on the handle and away you go.

I used these guys:

http://barnet-welding.co.uk/products-page/gas/

They do a 3,000 psi argon/CO2 mix for ~?200 which is massive. Think it's 90 quid for a refill thereafter.

Pure CO2? Would sir care for some weld with his splatter?  ;D

It's ?50 deposit and then ?24.99+vat for a refill. There might be a dealer near you so you could save the delivery.

I use a pub gas cylinder bought from ebay (for a tenner) and have it filled by M&S fire protection in Rutherglen. They charge ?12 per fill but it's not as high a pressure as a standard welding cylinder, around 30 Bar I think. Much cheapmess though and ane fill is good for around 5kg of welding wire.
cheers
