Series indicator position question?

This e-bay ad has the front indicator in two different positions, looks like before and after images.
So for future reference, should the front indicator position be inside or outside of the side lights?

The indicators on the outside would make more sense, more so if there are no repeaters on the wings, this is only my opinion tho.
