Heater Resistor
« on: May 02, 2011, 11:03:04 AM »
Folks

The resistor on my heater motor def 90 has packed in. Having the motor blowing on low is non existant anyway and when it was working i never used it on that setting. There are three wires going into the heater box to the resistor, two green and grey ones (both look the same) and one green and yellow.

Anyone know how to bypass it so that the motor blows at full  speed ? Must be a fairly easy one .

Cheers

It's maybe the switch that's faulty. In which case remove the instrument panel and ou will see the back of the switch. Swap the terminals around so first click of the switch is now high speed and 2nd click is slow.
If this fixes it then the switch is the probablem
If it still runs at low speed then you need to look further.

Cheers Gordon. Thats quite a handy electrical guide. I'll see what i can do. Ruari, I replaced the heater switch a wee while back and have tried swapping the wires about as you suggested but no change sadly. I'll have a look this weekend hopefully

Hi Just wondering if you have managed to find a way to bypass the heater relay yet... I took a look at the wiring diagram and it was just a bit to technical for me, wondering if you swaped wiring about?
cheers
