seat belt ratchet release
« on: April 06, 2011, 09:10:14 PM »
HELP!! Can anyone tell me how to release a full retracted seat belt ratchet? I removed the forward facing rear belts from my 90, fitted a new roof and side lining (La Salle). On trying to refit them I find they have retracted fully. Many thanks for any replies in advance.

Some inertia belts will only release if they are sitting exactly in the horizontal position  Taking them off can sometimes disturb the inmternal mechanism

Try sitting it horizontal and gently tugging the belt (sometimes this can take quite a while but keep persevering)  It's unlikely it will be totally jammed

Hi Duncan,

Many thanks for that. I managed to take off the plastic covers (carefully) on one end of the inertia belt and disengage the rachets. They went back together fine and all is working now. Thanks for the reply.
