Program a new key fob
« on: January 12, 2011, 06:55:52 PM »
Has any of you bright folks managed to do this. Its a Lucas 17TN fob and I am not too sure if I need to use a Nanocom to do this. Searching around the web has left me confused as to what really works.

Grateful for any assistance.

Tommy
What car is it for? I've used my Nanocom to program keys for a Disco 2, but have not tried programing one for a defender.

Cheers

300 series Disco I or TD5 / 50th Defender methinks - and they can only be programmed with Nanocom/Testbook/Hawkeye/Autologic etc.

Its as Mac has posted in the picture its for my Defender TDCi 07.

Seen all sorts of stuff about pushing it four times and all other things but what is the answer?

I know the Nanocom will program it for a pre 07 Defender but not sure about your one. I will look into this further.

Hi
After a little digging about I have found that it is the same unit that is fitted in the earlier Defender and the 07 on Defender.
But what I can't find out is if it is connected to the OBD port in the same way. The engine ECU and Instrument cluster on the 07 Defender uses a high speed can bus connection.
So in theory the Nanocom should be able to program the unit but it depends on wether the interface between the OBD port and the alarm unit has remained the same.

Here's a link which gives details of all the Land Rover ECU's, what they do and what they can be made to do. ;)

From what I can see the alarm unit is the Lucas 10AS same as in the TD5 me thinks. The unit has a learn function that allows the new fobs to be attached to the system.
