Maybe Beastless until 2011
« on: December 18, 2010, 05:44:42 PM »
Gutted!  :'(

Beast broke in Inverness yesterday!  Can't believe it!

He is now stuck in M & D, until further notice, as they are snowed under!! lol (excuse the pun!)

In this weather, what do I get as a courtesy car?...........................a passat?????!!!!! which has no key, or handbrake (just so, not right!) :'(

Not a happy bunny!  :'(

Perhaps you could take a leaf out of the SAAB practice :

SAAB have their ignition keys on the floor, next to the gear lever;  the key cannot be removed until the gear lever is in reverse.

The principle is that, as it gets so cold in Sweden (and other Nordic countries) in winter, it is too easy for the handbrake (discs ?) to get frozen onto the wheels.

The routine is simple :

1 - stop car, handbrake ON
2 - clutch DOWN, engage reverse
    3 - ignition OFF
4 - clutch up, handbrake OFF
5 - remove key - and self from car  :D

This also trains one in good practice to check hand brake on, then depress the clutch before switching on the ignition.

*** It also sounds a lot more complicated than it is in practice  ;D ***
If at first you don't succeed -
use a bigger hammer

Well LR realised their mistake today!  >:(   LR warranty, guarantees you a like for like vehicle (not quite what I LIKE, but hey ho!)

but saying that, a brand new Disco 4 beats a VW passat, hands down!  ;D

Well mines up n running again.
Called an auto leccy. He simply tightened a few connections and sprayed WD40 (after doing a 'head read' and no faults showing) Purring again. Wrapped up tonight and hopefully will fire up no probs tomorrow ....

WOOHOO! fab news badger12

They hadn't even looked at mine yesterday! So think it's a definite...not gonna be ready before xmas  >:(

Not keen on the Disco, not my cup of tea at all, it's not my idea of driving! lol...it does just about everything for you :o
Not at all practical for me, the list of dislikes is getting longer by the minute!

lol sthrifty...I was a bit tempted to take it up the mountain today, but so scared of marking it, it's brand blinkin new, no marks what so ever!
I don't want to have to pay for even the tiniest of repairs! Bet they would charge me a fortune!
I even parked it at the other end of the car park today, didn't want some k**b smashing their door/trolley into it.

That's what I love about my Beast, everyone else comes of worst! lol...been sat in a carpark, when a women!!!!!  :o pulls into the space opposite so fast & cocky, bang, into the front of the Beast, she didn't see the bloody great winch on the front, should of seen her face, & the damage to her car!! lol (bet she aint so cocky now, when parking!)  My side steps, also take many a door impact! lol
Next best thing would be an armoured tank!!  ;D
