I'm not sure but I think Disco axles are physically the same (the diff ratio is likely to be different) - Can't you transplant both from your  spares Disco and you would then have Discs all round.

If you dont come up with a suitable axle near you,
possibly try 'Portal Rover 'to see if they have a good Salisbury axle or a pair removed from a 110/One Ten
when they have been doing a conversion to Portals.

Its still there just waiting to go away to the scrappy.  I used the long halfshaft on the front axle but the diff and the short shaft are still there as is the rear axle

Bill

If it's me you're replying to, if I can get what the scrappy would give me for the remains, I would be happy.  The theory would be that you would get the same back  from the scrappy as I would, and effectively get your axles free.  I still have the steering box and linkage to remove from the chassis, but if you are in a hurry for it, you could take the motor away and give me the box and shaft back later.

I'll check the haynes manuals tomorrow but I would reckon the diff ratio would be different from the Defender, but I'm presuming as it's quite a popular conversion, it doesn't cause too many problems.  Perhaps some of the other guys on the forum will know.  If it is different, you would need to fit the pair of axles (or diffs) at least at the same time

I had planned putting the diffs into my Defender thinking that they would lower the rpm at speed

Someone has bound to have done this conversion and keep you right

HI
I put a disco1 front axle straight onto my defender 90. Only change was to use the radius arms of the disco as their a wider at the bushings for certain year, had to buy the correct pollybush kit for disco radius arms. I swapped the internals for 10 spline defender diff and halfshafts to match the rear as im not sure if they use the same ratio diff. Used the original defender calipers and solid brake discs. All worked fine.
