Just driven through some heavy snow at Perth and out at the village the Discovery is covered if it keeps on tonight there will be a bit up here. The usual places have the snow gates closed already ie Glenshee, Tomintoul so keep looking . I heard that Forfar area was bad today as well.

We had 2 inches arrive in about an hour around 10-11pm. Hope it gets no worse, got to get the van down the farm track at silly o'clock.

The snow north of Forfar is something else,in some places, then nothing,
but this powder stuff blowing now & the ice is making very dangerous drifts apear where there is just black top road & clear fields.

'Most popular traffic jam cameras' is very handy to see the weather at some places before you get there.
or in deciding to take a route.
Check out the A90,

BBC site/incidents Didnt get updated during the night for 9 hours, but conditions changed lots.
Flashes of lightening last night & the Temprature rising well above & then dropping well below freezing was very unusual.

Got a wee pickle down in Sunny Greenock but its the ice below it thats the problem. Need to go out though work to do and things to get.

Wish I had my old tyres on instead of the AT's :( :(

I read a comment earlier in the week that AT's were better in the snow than m/t's. Something to do with the tread pattern more suited to snow. No idea if there's a truth in this and I'm sure some expert will be along soon to correct me :)

Meantime I'll just do what I did last year and watch my neighbours shoveling snow before I drive over the top of it. I noticed one of the neighbours at the bottom of the hill has now bought a disco following last years snow!

Ross

A good scattering west coast. 2" Sunny all day and all it did was freeze.
Landy heater working great - hats, gloves & extra layers  :D

Doing a job down by Lesmahagow this morning. 6 in of snow on the way out, a dusting on the site when I got there  :(

Even more  >:( on the way home with the state of the M80 at Cumbernauld. Two lines of traffic trying to crawl through the roadworks, cars continually getting stuck. 4x4s owners were taking down the barriers to move into the open spaces created ahead of stuck cars.... 4 hours to do a journey that usually would take just over an hour. Finished off with towing a neighbour 4 miles. Wee Fiat thing, kids, shopping - completly unsuited to the weather - and no idea where the towing eye or tools were kept. ( Answer is a bag under the back seat - lets decant the kids into the snow while we fold all the seats forward....)

Very very smug about the Landrover tho  ;D
