Series 2A gear box in a series 3 SWB
« on: November 18, 2010, 10:49:31 PM »
Can anyone tell whether this sereis 2A gear box (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/land-rover-series-2a-gear-box-and-transfer-box-/140478500333?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item20b52bcded) will fit my 1982 series 3 diesel SWB  ???

Also, I have read somewhere that series 2 boxes are "stronger" than series 3 boxes- is this true ???

Last question - will the ratios be the same as the standard sereis 3 box ???

Any advice welcome ;D

Thanks

Stephen

It should fit OK. They are known to be stronger than all but the last series 3 boxes which had stronger synchros.
Ratios should be fine. Bear in mind you only have synchro on 3rd and 4th gear.
