« on: November 08, 2010, 06:29:15 PM »
Had the D2 for nearly a year, its great. But i may get the opportunity to upgrade to a D3! Anyone here drive/driven one? What do you think? Any other advantages you can name?

Had my D3 (2005 S) for 31/2 years now, absolutely the best car I have ever had, including 3 BMs and a Honda. For such a big car it has reasonable fuel consumption (28ish for a manual overall), is ok on insurance and never fails to leave a big grin plastered all over the face. When it was off the road after someone reversed into it I had a Jag XF as a courtesy car, great though it was I couldn't wait to get the D3 back.

Off road it is also brilliant, the only downsides are the length and the worry about going just a little too far, but it is very, very capable.

Will tow a house, or lug a ton of gear around all day without complaining, and I think it actually handles a bit better when half laden.

Yes, there are some "Friday" cars around and they are not the cheapest (or most expensive) to maintain and repair but they just have that certain something to keep you grinning.

The big service is at 105K or 7 years when you change Cam belts and can cost around ?1K so factor that in if its close, or ensure it has been done. There is also a ton of info if you want to get your hands dirty at www.disco3.co.uk as well as the chance to get a healthy discount on genuine parts.

I would totally recommend one to anyone, just be aware of the costs and try and get a warranty with it to ease the risk of repairs.

What has an individuals actions got to do with the committee? All you do is come on here and pick fights. Why don't you just disappear and go start arguments with like minded people who love confrontation.

Farmer looks like a 'lurker' to me. I suspect his name is wrong. Every forum has one or two people who do this, so best ignored and he will wander off.
