Freebie front subframe
« on: September 26, 2010, 07:45:55 PM »
Got to replace front anti-rollbar bushes and heads of bolts rusted so much cannot get them undone, only option I see is dropping the front subframe to get access, has anyone any experience of this? Any tips? (apart from the usual freebist comments ;)

Can you get a smaller socket and hammer it on? It's a bit rough but should work. Will knacker the socket probably. Or grind the heads off and use vice plyers to get the rest out. Just a thought if your stuck.

Tried the smaller socket route to to avail, can't really get at them to batter socket onto them well enough. It looks like subframe will need to come off to get at bolts - upside is will get to have a good look to see what there is to mount recovery point to ;)
