Waxoyl - how I did it
« on: September 04, 2010, 06:37:44 PM »
Hi

The Disco needed its chassis done before the winter comes.
Here's the stuff i gathered to do it.

First thing, pressure washed it and left it for half an hour to drip, then i gave it a blow over with the air line

Then i stuck an industrial heater under it for two hours to dry it properly.

Here's a before and after pic of the chassis

The spray gun from frost is much better than the waxoyl one. I added 10% white spirit to thin it down enough to spray properly.
If there are areas you can't reach you can drill a 10mm hole to get the spray hose in.

It's a messy job but hopefully it'll keep the salt out for another year.

cheers

Geoff

Nice write up, thanks. I'm thinking of doing mine. Any pointers to bits of a TD5 Discovery that I'm likely to miss?

Cheers
