i have fitted a 200tdi into my series 3, removed the turbo, oil cooler and fondering if fitting a 14inch kenlowe infront of the radiator will keep it cool ?

yep no probs if the series rad is clean and clear inside it gives more water capacity and cooling than the tdi one anyways

so fitting it infront of the radiator is no problem also it is best to wire the fan up by the kenlowe sensor switch or on the first stage of the ignition ? need wiring diagram if wireing up to sensor

fitting the fan in front is ok if it is the right one ,some kits blow and some suck , not sure if reversing the wires will reverse the direction.
wiring the sensor is easy , ground to the fan, perm live to sensor, then switched live from sensor to the fan, proper kenlowe sensor is adjustable for temp cut in

Do you need a fan? I run my 200di 2a with a standard series rad and no fan and it runs pretty cool. Suppose if you need to leave it ticking over for any great length of time or in lots of stop start traffic it might heat up a bit. Mines sat on hot day's ticking over and no sign of it overheating.

i have wired up the kenlowe to the second stage on the fuse box and their must be power coming back form the fan as when its connected it takes something like  4 second to turn off (until the fan stops ) its this ok to leave it ?

fitting fans behind is better if you have the optionbetween the two.

Its to do with the air between the fins expands as it gets hot, fans in front of the radiator have to blow the air through, its expanding as it does so and so creates a dam effect annd isnt as efficient as it sucking the air through, pulling the hot air through.

also remember the fact that a lot of land rovers were designed to work in 98% of the world, theoreticaly a series 3 needs no extra cooling to run in the sahara. and the radiators are technically to big for scotland(which is why some people have those tarpaulin type things to lock of part of the radiator in winter.)
