A comp in place of the Perthshire Hill Rally.
« on: June 30, 2010, 03:00:08 PM »
The Scottish Hill Rally Club are pleased announce that following the cancellation of this years Scottish Perthshire Hill Rally, that we will be running a Comp Safari over the weekend of the 17th /18th July. The venue has been a proven favourite with competitors of the Scottish Cross Country Championship, with a total of 90 competitive miles over 15 laps for a modest ?80. The same strong team that organise the Scottish Cross Country Championship are on board and are working hard to make this event a success.

Where:

Drumclog is an easy site to get to and has excellent motorway links.

Map: http://www.multimap.com/s/goF1OglY
(Its almost an hour closer to Carlisle & places south than Perth :) )

Facilities on site:

Loo, Bonfire, .... and I'm working on catering :)

What?s the site like:

Drumclog offers fast, open racing over undulating fields and moorland, with some challenging drops, climbs and even a river crossing or two! Drumclog, however, is not a site that favours the "Soft-Roaders"... you want suspension travel and a skilled eye for choosing the best driving line.

The open nature of the site will give everyone a great view of the action and as the spacious service area is close by, the service crews get to see a lot of the racing too!

So enough of the waffle have a look for yourself here:

SCCC 2009 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klnfzr6Peuk

The time table for the event is:
  • Saturday the 17th July:
    • Marshals signing on will commence at 10am, Marshals in position by 11.30
    • Scrutineering:  10:30-11:30
    • Leg 1: Will be 9 laps.
      • First available start time: 12 noon
      • Last available start time: 6pm
  • Sunday the 18th July:
    • Marshals in place by 9:30am
    • Leg 2: Will be 6 laps.
      • First available start time: 10am
      • Last available start time: 2pm
.... this should give people plenty of time to arrive on Saturday, and head home on Sunday

Entries:

Entries can be submitted on the day, although we would appreciate you telling us in advance if you are coming: putting on an event for 6 people is no fun

The cost for the two days racing is ?80 (a small increase from the landowner) and regs are available from Ian Stuart (chairman@scottish-hillrally.co.uk) We welcome our friends from North and South of the Border and look forward to seeing many of you at what will certainly be a great weekends motorsport.
We could also ask competitors to bring a (small) gift for the marshals draw - our way of saying "thank you" to those who make the competition happen.

Any questions please call Ian Stuart Clerk of the Course or Colin Rodger Chief Marshal 07767-726075

Marshals:

As with all events we cannot run without the help of willing volunteers. We need marshals, radio marshals and start and finish crews for the event, if you had planned to attend the Hill Rally then we would welcome your support in helping to run the Scottish Hill Rally Clubs first ever Comp Safari. Please remember that not every post needs a 4x4 to access it, road car access is possible.

If you are willing to attend the event then please let me know colin.rodger@virgin.net or mobile: 07767-726075

Accommodation:

Camping and Caravanning is available on-site from Friday the 16th on site.
There is a commercial campsite at the Strathclyde Country Park, some 20-odd miles north.

Hope to see you all at the event and please tell as many of your friends as possible of SHRC first ever comp safari.

The Scottish Hill Rally Club.

So who's up for coming and helping at this event, good opportunity for those for you with MSA Radio's to dust them off and give them a little try. One or two days is fine, as are marshals with no experience as I can pair you up with somebody who knows whats required.

If your coming please tell me in advance colin.rodger@virgin.net or mobile:07767-726075

There are a few of the Marches/Tenby people (who were going to have a summer holiday at the Perthshire) coming too.
Hopefully we'll not have anyone stuck on their own....

If your planning to come and compete at the SHRC comp you need to have spoken with Ian Stuart by Friday. We have the marshals ready to run the event but we do not intend messing them about, we appreciate their assistance in helping to run the event.

So basically if we don't have enough competitors having spoken with Ian by Friday, we will not run the event. So if your serious about competing give him a call 07811378826

Sorry if this is a little blunt, but there's a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes and if we don't need to do it, we won't as it will allow us to do other things.

The comp that the Scottish Hill Rally Club were organising instead of the Perthshire Hill rally is now officially cancelled, despite the hard work behind the scenes from the organisers and the tremendous support from the marshals, we simply haven't enough interest from the competitors to make this viable.

Thanks again to all who supported inititive.
