Even if you can suggest a base camp we can plan around it for exploring perhaps

Ok leader

So we all don't waste time beavering about can we set the parameters for this weekend, not worth trying to get some where that it is miles and miles away?

I would suggest 3 hours travelling from our base as this would be same distance as our first sorte, ok so it is a few miles but was worth it.

What about a sorte into the land adjoining ours, the one attached to the other side of Hadrians Wall must be some areas there.

right all, we have the option of settling at Gene's place at Brig o Turk, where we can have a camp fire and water supply. i was hoping to keep this for a winter venue.

Given the fact that far as i can see all sites at the end of july are fully booked so i think we should base ourselves at Gene's and take it from there.

We dont want a team of landrovers  searching for a site when we have one on our doorstep.

poll

cheers john

Count me in provisionally.

I have to admit though that I'm confused as to the location of the weekend (or camp). Is it Brig o Turk not far from Aberfoyle?

Gene's it is for me. We can always work out some areas for a jaunt, maybe Sandy has a few possibilities since he is the maestro in the GRR arena

yes Cedric just over the hill.

Lots to do in the area I might take a boat on the loch if one is available to hire or if I can bring my own.

A bit boring to some but the wee church outside Aberfoyle is well worth a visit (all the great and good were buried in metal coffins to avoid Burke and Hare) plenty shops Callender and Aberfoyle.

There is a road up loch Catrine which I am told is a nice drive,so lots to do.

Just a brainstorm i had today....as long as our generous host will allow, could always organise some 'auto-games'. More accuracy & skill as opposed to speed, so wont make a mess.

Example: The usual drive through tight cones/canes/whatever
             Reverse through said cones.
See how far you can drive with a football on your bonnet-no bonnet mounted spare wheels
             allowed. ::)
Simplified TYRO.....blindfolded!!! Need a trustworthy navigator for that one!! :o

Best of 3 runs and if folk donated a small 'prize', like a bar dairy milk/tartan keyring...whatever, adds to the fun.

Im sure with a bit of imagination some more could be thought off. We used to do this sort of stuff on fun days with the Triumph club, and its really good fun

Anyway, just an idea. Bomb it out if you wish!!!

Good idea Mel, we used to do stuff like that when out in the wilds. One task was driving with a glass (or plastic beaker) of water on the bonnet. The remaining water was measured and the winner was the one with the highest volume.
Take that through the tyro canes could be fun

Right folks. Numbers to Sthrifty please.

The Forest Drive is out our back gate, not very exciting but good views. FC Honesty Box on the entrance. The games idea sounds good and I'll have a think about other stuff to do.

CAUTION. If the wind drops our place is Midge City. Pray for wind or pack industrial quantities of DEET.
