Hens teeth/rocking horse poo.  'We' had this discussion recently and it was collectively decided to buy the Ashcroft gears (?225) rather than use a 20+ year old transfer box!

The 1.667 to 1 transfer boxes are fitted to early 2.5 NA 110"s,thats why the box from the 110 I am breaking has already been bagged!

1.667:1 transfer boxes are also found under td5 defenders, 110 hard tops as supplied to forestry commission etc. these are a better transfer box as they come with a cross drilled transfer gear. you cannot fit a cross drilled gear to the early defender boxes.

hmmm i think you may find that if you order the correct gear that strangely enough you can fit a new gear to an old 1.6 transfer box, btdt just last week,

im also very doubtful in the forrestry commision having 1.6's in there td5's,
Started out with nothing,
Still have most of it left

Funny, we have just broken an 04 110 ex commission with 1 1.6 trans box, fitted from new, the car had 4k on the clock and had been rolled. Also, our apprentice has a 90 td5 that also dons a 1.6 trans box. But then what would I know? I only work on land rovers all day every day!!
