Hi all,

I need to vent some frustration.............if only land rover made vans!!!!  I have a front wheel drive ford transit which I have just spent all day changing the clutch on!!

It was a complete b**tard!! LOADS of cheap components that fall apart in your hand.

OK rant over, just be warned if you are looking/ running this van.

I run a mark 6 transit but it's the rear wheel drive one. Will heed your advice though. Thanks.

Hmmm dunno likes, mine is on a p plate & is only starting to rust round the corners
saying that i have seen some with more rust than paint

lol, suppose there is some good ones out there, did love driving them though., got caught speeding in one.

From my experience the rear wheel drive is a doddle, just support the gearbox on a trolley jack and ususally it lines up quite easily but the front wheel drive one has too many pipes and linkages in the way, it's quite compact in there!!!

As for running sprinters unless you own a diesel refinery they are expensive on fuel.

I was a passenger in a demonstrator 'all wheel drive transit' yesterday,
it was very impresive on a forest track,
& so it should have been,
 it would have cost ?25,000 as it stood.
Next year will see the electric version available.

In the past i owned a Durashift mwb transit (5 speed clutchless manual)
that had slipped through the net from having been a dealers demonstrator
(It got sold to a private buyer.)
They were all recalled & scrapped,
a different model went on sale to the public.

It cost me ?1600 +vat to get an actuator from Borg Warner (?2200 total to diagnose fault & fit)
& then when it still didnt change properly,
 i sold it with fault & the new buyer spent ?1500 on a new box fitted.
 He has run it happily for 2 years now.

Ford still claim to have no problems with Durashifts that they sell.
Forums are full of posts that say their pants are on fire.

That sort of gearbox in a van would scare me a bit!!! hahaha

An all wheel drive van would be brilliant for me over the winter but at that price i'll stick to sliding in the snow!

 have you bought my old one, if you did it will be OK, it had enough spent on it.

white 51 plate semi high roof,mwb with sidewindow conversion & black tints side & rear.
It was fitted out as a workshop when i sold it to a man that hires out wig wams.

PS the towing button on them ups the bhp/torque,
 & the snow button really works.

Hi. I have an 03 plate. 90t350 mhr rwd. No window conversion either mate. Don't see a towing button and the snow button didn't do anything to help me when I go stuck in my street and that's flat. Lol. Great to drive though.
