Parts for Bertie
« on: May 22, 2010, 07:11:14 PM »
Howdy all,

Anyone local to me??  Looking for parts for Bertie, he didn't quite make it all the way here on move day (got to Glasgow, so quite impressed! lol)

Any decent breakers around here, or Landy dealers/restorers, or I am I just better ordering online?

Looking for water pump & starter motor
.....really need Bertie back now, for taking the dogs exploring! (won't let Storm in the Beast ever again! took hours to hoover the other day! Malamute hair and black interior don't blend!)

Cheers  :)

Paddocks it is then!! lol  ;D

Can't believe there are no landy garages/restorers around here, there are sooooooo many landys about!

I take it that also means I have to take my 110 to Inverness for it's service! (not keen on landy dealership servicing!)

When I spend my holidays in Fort Augustus there is a garage as you come in from the South - they've always had a couple of Land Rover's about the place  :-\

They don't do much there, we have asked, seems to be more of a recovery place.

Thank you anyways

Hi
Ref L/R repairers in Inverness, I would recommend Inverness 4x4 Hamish Grant
01463 233303. Prices are fair, a lot cheaper than main dealers and he has a lot of experience with L/Rovers. He also keeps a fair stock of L/R parts. I have no business connection with him but have had satisfactory repairs carried out there.
 Regards
 Allan

Thanks Allan, will look them up, always like recommendations from actual service users, makes a difference if you know others have been happy with the service.

Cheers

Hi Lis,

I'm from Fort William (although not lived there for 10yrs or so), and I'm pretty sure that there's not a LR specialist there. As I recall Heathercroft Garage were pretty handy at fixing landrovers, but not specialists as such (and the people may have changed). There is a breakers yard next to Clansmans Garage (locals will know it as Leek McMillan's) at Blar Mhor (between the high school and the canal), off course it's pot luck if there is anything of use there - there never seems to be many leafers in the area but lots of defenders! The only parts place is B&H Autospares in Claggan - who are (or always were, excellent) - although again not LR specific.

.........................so after all that, my blurb is probably not very helpful!!!

Hey Jamie,

Thanks a lot for all that info, really appreciated, we are so new to the area, so not discovered all the nooks and crannies yet! lol
I will look up all those places, as we have still not got around to sorting poor Bertie out yet!  (time! time! time! think we need to buy some!)

Had some strange bloke, turn up the other day, desperate to buy him, even though he's not running?! Odd!

Anyways, thanks again, will let you know how we get on

If you are in a hurry Davidson and McMillan in inverness are fairly good for parts.

http://www.davidsonandmcmillan.co.uk/

but you are cheeper ordering online for anything that is not desprate, mind you i needed a manaforld gasket davidson did not have one and paddocks put one out special dilivery and was here the next day so for small items they are good.

Welcome to the great glen you are just down the road from me.
