only effective midge repelant i know of in a flamethrower. a wee bit dodgy in tents i know and keep away from sensitive areas(like skin ) but the wee blighters hate it

got skin-so-soft though as a backup

my cb never worked properly. got a handheld, supposed to be the strongest handheld but most of the time i cant get anything. yet other times sitting in my room i can hear 'conversations' from glasgow im in edinburgh. just wish folk having these 'conversations' would pay a phone bill instead of using cb's lol. not the sort of thing youd think everyone would want to hear. usualy every second word is french i think

if any of the REAL campers are short of tent pegs i have got one or 2 (hundred) spare..... just found another bag full lol

On the CB front, I must confess I have three rigs but need to get shot of two. If you have problems then maybe we can fix them while we are up there. Its always best to have someone who can test with you, I can bring my swr and lecy kit and see where we get to.

On the way up we should try and establish connection suggest a channel and see where we get to. How about 7??

Tommy great idea seems a few of us will be there on Sunday so we can have a chat and get the sub committees
 sorted out,

I suggest the following:

Get lost committee
Anti midge committee
Fire wood committee
Lighting fire committee
Going to pub committee
etc etc etc

If i get time i will get a cb but you know me will need help to instal.

Looks like I will be on my own so wondering about wisdom of van just for me...mind will be a good trial for Appleby following week

van also be handy place for us to gate crash if/when the weather turns scottish. plus you could keep our beer cold(just try and leave some for us)

Doug,please leave your flame thrower at home !!! Avon SSS soft & fresh is pretty good stuff [Im an avon rep!!!!]. I use it on the horses as fly repellent-works better than the horsey stuff!!

Well John, you'll have enough committee members for each job, but dont put Doug on the 'get lost' committee, as by the sounds of it, he may well do the job to perfection!!!

I will leave really early but will stop at green welly or hotel next door and have proper big breakfast,I would suggest we do as Mel says agree a time for the meet and confirm who will all be early birds.I was hoping we would all be on site and ready for a short road drive on Friday evening up to Loch Shiel .

If my Wendy wasnt working she would have came up with the horse box as its a great area to trek
