Longing for a Landrover again
« on: September 23, 2020, 11:10:05 PM »
Hi All ,
Got rid of my Discovery over a year ago as it was suffering from rot to the chassis , bought a very nice Mercedes ML 5 cylinder diesel , they are great cars and much more comfortable on the road and very reliable but I’m trying to get back to a Landrover but with limited cash It’s not easy , trying to p/x the Merc.
I quite fancy a Rangerover but it’s a bit of a gamble going from what I have  to a potential money pit , all that said I’m having a good look  and would love to attend some events , I’ve kept my membership running so perhaps that’s a sign .
Anyway I’ll soon be back on here if I’m successful to show off my purchase ..
Cheers
Donald .

Donald.
It looks like you have a bad case of Landroverities, a rare and incurable disease.

                        Pete.

Hi Pete ,
I do , had everything from series 11 , Range Rovers and Defenders and would have another one tomorrow, just put an advert up for the ML tonight and an enquiry already , but usually get many enquiries before someone that is actually interested.
My low budget is the killer , so probably any series or defenders are out the question , there are plenty more modern range Rovers out there but so many I read have had fortunes spent on them so it’s a big risk buying one , then we are left with the Discovery which I had before , I had to get rid of mine as the last couple of MOT’s required welding to the chassis and it was getting more expensive each time ...... again I would like one that is solid so probably the older the better as I’m told the older ones had less corrosion issues ...
The search goes on and perhaps some day I’ll get to an event ..... here are a few of my favourite ones

Hi Donald.
                     Two days. Well done.
My only advice would be don't rush, there's plenty of time.
I've had four Discoveries and the first one (300tdi) was the one I miss the most.

                                                    Pete.

Hi Pete , I have my eye on. 2001 Range Rover 4.0 , I know , I know , but it’s lovely looking and has very good history , the MPG would be a killer and if it developed any serious issues could cost a fortune ... I’m doing well aren’t I ...... do you attend any club events

I had a four litre petrol Disco. It cost me £50 every time I got in it! But boy could it go.
I've done RTV's and CCV's and green road runs, Oh and I've done the Mud master a few times, so you could say I'm quite active in the club.
I have just sold my Bowler so it looks like it will be Tyros for a while.
There are one or two in the club who have had big Rangies but I think most people seem to chat on Facebook or twitter so you should try there for advice.

                          Pete.

Hi ,
Got a Discovery today , drove 2 hours home and all seems great , it’s a 2003 TD5 135k miles with new engine fitted at 57
K miles, MOT’d with no advisories, solid underneath, S/S exhaust and has Diff Locks .
