MUDMASTER NAVIGATIONAL TRIAL: 26-27 NOV 2016

1. Outline. BAMA & SLROC will jointly organise the Mudmaster Navigational Trial on 26 – 27 Nov 16. The competition will be held at sites across Central Scotland with the aim of promoting road safety awareness, developing both on and off-road driving and map reading skills.

2. Eligibility. Mudmaster is an MSA CLUBMAN event and will be open to all members of the organising clubs and by invitation to NILRC, 4WDNI, Highland 4WDC, Devon & Cornwall LRC, YORC, Bucks & Oxs 4x4 Resp, SWCC, RNRMMSA and RAFMSA and members of clubs affiliated to the ALRC and FBPMCs. Members of other clubs may apply for an invitation which will be confirmed in Final Regulations. Competitors will only be required to produce a club card for one of the aforementioned clubs; no MSA licence is required. The event is open to all 4x4 vehicles and there is will also be an easier “Green Road” class if sufficient entries are received.

3. Format. The event will include a very simple road safety quiz, on-road observed driving, manoeuvring tests, navigational tests, orienteering tests and road trim vehicle (RTV) cross country trials.

4. Scrutineering. Scrutineering & signing on will be open from 1900-2100 on Fri 25 Nov and from 0700hrs to 0900hrs on Sat 26 Nov at Dunfermline, Fife. There will be a competitor briefing at 0930hrs.

5. Locations. The event will start at 1000hrs on Saturday in Dunfermline and will finish in Drymen area on Saturday evening. It will restart on Sunday at Milton near Dumbarton and finish at 1300hrs at Garelochhead.

6.   Accommodation. Competitors should arrange their own accommodation for Friday and Saturday night. 


7.   Entries. Requests for Regulations and entry forms should be sent via email to penorrie@aol.com or by 

sending a large (A4) Self Addressed Envelope with a large first class stamp, to Pam Norrie, 1 Bellard Road, West Kilbride, Ayrshire, KA23 9JT. Competitors must enter in one of 3 classes (all vehicles must be road taxed):
   .   (i)  Standard Class (£60) – any standard 4x4 “Land Rover” type vehicle taking part in all tests. 

   .   (ii)  Challenge Class (£60) – any 4x4 with additional diff lockers and other mods; tests as standard class. 

   .   (iii)  Green Road Run Class (£60) – any 4x4 vehicle; road, tracks and navigation on “tyro” terrain only. 

All cars will require “road rally section” cover. If drivers are unable to get their existing cover extended, this will be available for an additional £25 from REIS insurance via the organisers (T&Cs apply). Proof of insurance will be required.

8.   Overall Awards (Restricted to Standard Class)
   a.   First Overall (2 awards). 

   b.   Second Overall (2 awards). 

   c.   Third Overall (2 awards). 

   
9.   Class Awards (Restricted to other classes)
   a.   First Green Road Run Class (2 awards) - subject to three or more entries 

   b.   First Challenge Class (2 awards) - subject to three or more entries 

   
10.   Club Awards (Restricted to specific clubs)
   a.   First in club (2 awards) – subject to three or more entries from that club. 

   b.   Second in Club (2 awards) – subject to six or more entries from that club. 

   
11.   Special Awards
   a.   Spirit of the Event – The Bob Hammond Award (2 awards) – all competitors. 

   b.   First Newcomer (2 awards) – restricted to first timers in the standard class. 

   c.   First Road Safety (2 awards) – all competitors.
