Sludge like grease in engine

Hi guys my 90 a 200tdi started pouring oil out the timing casing . when removed timing belt and sprockets were saturated. So removed timing casing .it's full of a grease like substance . should be oil only never seen this before . has anyone else . it's very strange .

I dont think its water as its more like black graphite grease.

could it have been leaking oil and been treated with a leak sealer in the past

Could be a miss-match of oils IE topped up with an oil which is not compatible with the oil already in the engine, have heard of this before but can't recall the specifics. I suggest a flush out with flushing oil, change filter etc and monitor results.
