V8 oil pump priming tool wanted

Guys anybody got an oil pump priming tool kicking about the back of your tool box I can borrow?

I used a battery drill, with a long 3/8" extension and a 14mm (I think) socket. Worked a treat.

 I suggest separating the pump, packing the gears with vaseline, re-assemble the pump, this will prime the pump enabling oil pressure to be raised almost immediately.

That is the method I would also use, change the oil soon after though.

If it is a serpentine engine then its a different kettle of fish

Yip in a perfect world Vaseline should have worked but engine lying a while and engine drained a few weeks ago and it didnt work.been warned off using a 12 mm socket as they can drop when the drill feels the kick from the pressure building.made a tool this afternoon and will whip out dizzy and stick huge drill on it tonight ....fingers crossed

Vaseline should work in an engine thats gone completely dry, pack the pump full and fire it up  8)
