excessive play in gear stick
« on: April 17, 2015, 07:50:13 PM »
Okay got my dads gearbox out. The gear stick had alot of play in it. Thought I had an easy fix when out. No !!!!

The gear stick goes into a ball with hole through(looks like a bead) and it should fit in selector fork, but it gloats about as if some thing is missing.

Any help please never seen this before 😞

Thanks Bill

Hi Bill

My Disco 2's in the drive if you want to have a look and see if anything's missing.  There's no point upgrading your dad to a more modern motor until he matures and starts behaving lol

Hi bill theres a plastic bush which sits in the selector yoke it will have worn out I replaced the whole yoke on a D2 because the bush had long gone and the yoke was wearing out the whole thing was around £50 im sure its the same as the defender.
