Lichfield v8
« on: April 12, 2014, 07:35:49 PM »
Just purchased a project as tow motor for trials motor.
It's got a couple of pieces I don't recognise, can anybody shed some light on this.
Posh cubby box with vinyl pop studded onto bulkhead.
What look like emission pipe work connected to manifolds
Litchfield V8 stickers.
I'm assuming it's a dealer special.

I have a 1986 factory V8 90 and it has the same interior and cubby box, it also had the same emissions pipework, which I removed and fitted blanks to where the pipework enters the head by the spark plugs.

Its the Pulsair system, my '85 classic had it originally. Basically each exhaust port has a tapping which draws in fresh air, effectively watering down the exhaust gases and reducing the emissions. IIRC it was for the american market originally and kept for the UK once they went EFI in the USA, gave an extra burble to the engine note!

Famous four used to make a blanking kit, was a set of 8 cap head plugs that just screwed into the head. Worth a phone call, failing that remove a bit of the pipe work and match the thread or cut and weld up the back of the unions.
