Advice needed
« on: November 06, 2013, 04:45:00 PM »
:)  Hi , I have a P38 which I booked into a garage next Tuesday 12/11 to fix the problem with the crankshaft pulley and therefore it can't be run , so no brakes or power steering.  I need to transport it there either Sat or Sun this week , however I have AA home start which I'm not totally sure would cover the transportation . Here is where I need advice , I'm in Shotts and the garage it's going to is less than a mile and a half .... should I get the AA or would it be better to get somebody to transport it ??? and if so can anybody recommend someone ???  ... And if I can get it fixed in time I'm planning to go the GRR on the 17th at Woodmuir ..  Thanks for advice in advance  .  Duncan

If you have decent brakes, I am in Wishaw with a Ninety and a rope.  What garage are you going to ??

Ask the garage ? They should have some dirt of recovery transport to come and get your vehicle ?

I can't run the engine so don't know if the brakes would be that great , the garage in question is Motortune ( Peter McAnna ) and they don't have a transporter that would take the weight.  Duncan

beg/borrow a straight bar and willing tow vehicle  :o

the tow car can then brake for you  ;)

also if you go steady/drive accordingly the steering will be adequate  8)

:)  :) Looks like I will get it tomorrow or Sat at the latest , it turns out that the crankshaft pulley which is a pulley for the alternator has another pulley attached for the air con has decided to part company from each other ( metal fatigue !! ) but the pulley from a bmw 5 series fits it as it's the bmw 2.5 .. So fingers crossed I'll have in time for Sunday ... and thanks again  ..  Duncan
