Hi,
Can anyone help please.
I have an 03 plate TD4 with 108K on the clock and just recently she has cut out on me 3 times for no apparent reason.
She will start again after a bit of winding over.
Any info would be greatly received.

diesels starting after a bit cranking usually points to a fuel issue or more likely air in the fuel due to a leak, start with the basics is the fuel filter ok?

Hi,
She will cut out after a run and will start again after winding over and pump the throttle.
She doesnt seem to be losing power but does push out more black smoke than usual when throttle is floored.

I had the same problem and it got to the point where it would not restart when hot.
no faults recorded.
A BWM mec said it would be the crank sensor so changed it (£40 from bmw) and all is now fine.
I did not have the black smoke problem BUT there is a filter on the top of the engine (4 captive bolts) that must be replaced or it will cause the engine to smoke and if not fixed will cause the turbo to fail.
hope this helps.
