I was looking at breather kits and thought if it was possible to use the existing breathers land rover provided and cut the u-bends and use pneumatic t-junctions and join them all together in the engine bay, using a adapter fit a bigger diameter pneumatic fed hose up to my snorkel rather than buying a kit and removing the existing fitted hoses ? if anyone has done this or has a better way can you send pictures ? its a TD5 so i'll have to sort the fuel tank breather in rear wheel arch and rear axle breather too, also how easy is it to flood the ecu as i'm a electrical apprentice i would rather re-locate the ecu up higher or put it in a IP rated box . how reliable is TD5 in deep water ( any engine sensors require water proofing) as i have a snorkel and waterproofed the engine breathing side, as on Monday had to drive some deep water on way to work but never attempted bonnet deep due to breathers in engine bay

How you doing?

My old axle brethers front and rear were both bust, so I did what you suggested. Get some phneumatic pipe and some y-pieces. Joined the axle, gearbox & transfer box all together and ran it up my snorkle. Note keep one of the hold bits with the hook end becuase it's pretty difficult to get the new pipe to  bend into this shape.

As for ECU - Dam easy to fill with water or at least mine was. It spent a week in the dining room drying out. Lukily all was ok.
I went round the box filling any rivet holes and an old plug hole with sika flex and grommets. On the removable panel I went round with new sealant tape. Fingers crossed it will be ok. But it's not seen deep water since then.
Extension cables are to damn expensive to buy, I did toy with the idea of cutting the cables and soldering in extension wires but chickened out. It is possible to buy the ECU sockets but I struggled to find the supplier for the male plug.

Haven't had a chance to get the picture, but it all came from ebay, of which I managed to  order 10m of hose. 6mm sounds about right.
Make sure to  seal up all the pipe of your snorkle - test it buy putting a poly bag over thhe snorkle, it should stall the engine if it is all properly sealed. Rember also that in the bottom of the air box there is a water drain, and in y case this wouldn't seal shut.
Maybe go  around the inside of seat box with seam sealer paint and silicone up where the wires come through the gland.
Check thhe wires into the throttle pedal while your at it. Make sure they have a good seal.

Stall idea is good did you keep the water drain in u bend bit at the first part of the original pipe work for snorkel seen on rugged guide snorkel YouTube video there kits had a blank plate for the drain in the air box.

Nope, I just siliconed up both the drains.
I later opened up the one in the bottom of the airbox, just incase, thinking I will just seal it each time I go and play.
